Okay I’m going to get a new alienware laptop. I like the m17 better because of style(i just like that older style better) and i like the fingerprint and face recognitiion software it has too. I have customized the m17 to 2000 dollars, with dual gpu and standard cup it comes with(2.8 dual core of some kind). However I was wondering if m17x was better? If so how much better? And why? Oh and will geforce or ati perform better? Oh and I only want to know how much better the m17x is for customized builds under 3000. If you have tips for me to put under m17 to make it 3000, that too would be appreciated. So which is better 3000 or less custom build of m17, or 3000 dollar m17x?

Oh and if you have any tips for custom builds for either one under 2000 or 3000 dollars respectively, that would be great too. Thanks for any help!

So I’m planning on buying a new laptop this holiday season where the sales are plenty but I’m having trouble deciding which laptop to get. I can only spend about $1200 maximum and I can’t decide whether to spring for an alienware laptop or a macbook. I’ll be using the laptop for a lot of gaming and digital art stuff I’ve asked around and supposedly if you bootcamp a macbook it can run high end games really well but alienware laptops are built to play games >.<. BaHhHHh I need help!

just wanna hook it up to my dell desktop but i love the fact it has media keys..and i wouldn’t have to go out and buy a 50$ keyboard when i have one here..i just need the drivers and software…where can i find’em?..
yes i’ve tried alienware.com…and tried searching for the keyboard model, can’t find any thing on it..maybe cause its like…4 years, and quite possibly almost obsolete.

I am going to buy a full-option desktop. I can’t buy laptop because I can’t upgrade it. I don’t play a lot of games but I play Crysis or any kind of high-end games(Rare). I don’t work with graphic related stuff. All I am going to do is install Linux and debug programs and sometimes play games. I know that I don’t need dedicated graphics card to debug programs but my dad told me to go all the way. I am willing to spend a lot of money. My friend told me buy apple desktop-Mac pro or newly came out Alienware-Area-51® ALX CFX. Mac pro has NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 and Alienware has ATI® Radeon™ HD 3870 X2. I don’t know which one is better card so I am asking you…..
I have another question.
I was surfing the net and found out mac pro can have up to 4 graphic cards. How is it possible?

I am going to get a new alienware laptop. I am looking into the new m17 and the m17x laptops, and I am wondering which I should get. I only am able to spend about 2000 or so, 3000 very max, so I was wondering if I should get the m17x mostly maxed out for 2000, and miss out on all the pretty lights, or should I slightly upgrade the m17x so it barely stays under 3000 and get the cool lights but miss the fingerprint scanner? I would like to know a three things: one, which is better, the cool light effects on the m17x or the camera and fingerprint scanner on the m17? Two, is 1gb of ati graphic card memory or 1gb of nvidia graphics card memory going to be faster?(cause i know ati is cheaper - so is it worse or something?) And finally, which is better - the m17 mostly maxed out, or the m17x barely upgraded a little? Thanks for any help you can give.

ok so going to buy me a laptop and i am interested in the alienware m17x and the macbookpro i need one of those laptops so i can use it for my music business i am a producer/rapper and i need a laptop i have my studio already but i want that one of those laptops which one would be better off with me i am going to be using the laptop for a long time so i need one that wont fail me is fast and has plenty of memory for my programs so please people tell me which one would you recommened explain why so there is a bigger chance of you getting those 10 points thank you all i hope you answer

I’m about to start uni next year where I’ll need a laptop for photo editing, graphics design, 3d animation and video editing. But i also want to play games on it. I was thinking of getting either a MacbookPro 2.53Ghz or an Area 51 m15x form alienware, with the NVIDIA Gforce Go 9800mGT. They cost about the same but what would be better, If i get the mac i was planning to get VISTA too and run games off bootcamp (Half life 2, Battlefield 2 ect) So whats the better option? If I run bootcamp dont i have to split the memory in two, wil that effect it at all? I don’t really want to build a PC either, I know its cheaper but its not for me.

HI, i have an alienware m9700 with two go 7900 gs video cards, but i can’t find the drivers, the beta drivers from nvidia don’t work, i have the 84.74 forceware version. games like crysis and cod4 run so slow, i’m running windows xp, should i upgrade to vista? or should i sell it? what’s the laptop worth?
