Power supply problems with Emachines?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Ok. Here is the situation. A few weeks ago my emachines pc began not acting right. For one thing it would not keep time. The second thing, I came in one day and my PS2 keyboard was not working. The lights on the keyboard were rapidly flashing back and forth. I bought another PS2 keyboard and it wouldnt work either. I figured the PS2 port was bad, so I bought a USB keyboard and plugged that in and it worked just fine. I also at this point used my restore discs because I thought that I was having problems with Windows so I wanted to reinstall it. Well the PC worked fine for about a week. I come to get on it one morning and the lights on the BRAND NEW keyboard are flashing and guess what? They keyboard wont work again. Well I cut the pc off and turned it back on and when I did, it failed to come on at all, and I could smell burnt wiring coming out of the power supply. I changed the power supply out and now the pc would come on, The hard drive light came on, the disk drives were working but I never could get ANYTHING to come up on the screen. I thought maybe the problem was with the CMOS battery so I bought one and put it in, and now it wont do anything. It wont power up or anything. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to what to do, or is this a lost cause, did I in some way fry the mother board for this pc or is there some reset I need to do. I know this PC is 6 years old, but I would like to salvage it if possible.

What computer is the best/worst in your opinion and why?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

I would say Dells are the best prebuilt systems, but I prefer making my own.

eMachines, I treat like McDonalds….only if there is no other choice, or if I’m desperate. I had a client w/ one a few months ago….Crappy, in my opinon.
The best, or worst computer is what YOU, the buyer and user think of it. I know this will vary, but I wanna see who can sway my opinion one way or the other.

Friday, September 11th, 2009

“is the Emachines T5086 compatable with the verto g-force 6200 graphics card 256mb DDR . It said it needed a pci express card to fit..this computer has one but it windows don’t read it. I wonder if the video card is xp only. can someone please help me:?
thanks alot
Patirk
The computer is Vista..not XP. What i’m wondering is maybe is it only xp compatable and not vista.
Windows vista isn’t recognizing the card. So when I put in the disk with the drivers it says there’s the card isn’t in it

Want to upgrade my Emachines?

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Well, i want to upgrade my pc. It’s getting a little old…well, alot old and now that i don’t have my other computer i need to upgrade this one. My main goal is to be able to run world of warcraft smoothly. The setting don’t have to be set to high but i want to be able to play, not view a slide show. Right now these are the specs.
EMACHINES T2542
CPU: Intel® Celeron® 2.50GHz Processor
128KB L2 cache & 400MHz FSB
Operating System: Genuine Microsoft® Windows® XP Home
Chipset: Intel® 845GV chipset
Memory: 256MB DDR (PC 2100)
Hard Drive: 40GB HDD
Optical Drive: 48x Max. CD-RW Drive; 3.5″ 1.44MB FDD
Video: Intel® Extreme Graphics 3D
64MB Shared memory
Sound: AC ‘97 Audio
Network: 10/100Mbps built-in Ethernet
Modem: 56K ITU v.92-ready Fax/Modem
Peripherals: Standard Multimedia Keyboard, 2-Button Wheel Mouse, Standard Stereo Speakers
Ports/Other: 6 USB 2.0 ports (2 on front), 1 Serial, 1 Parallel, 2 PS/2, Audio-In & Out
Dimensions: 7.25″W x 14.125″H x 16″D

From the information above it’s obvious i need more RAM and a new Video card. But, I am not sure what to buy. I’m not even sure if my comp is upgradable. Also, if you know any I need links would be helpful.

Thanks.
