my parents has bought a new intel core 2 duo i can play some games but i cant play runescape hd. i can see the background but i cant see the log in box. where you type your name and password… help???

Heres the problem i bought an Emachines T6420 about a year and a half ago, it broke last week. After much tinkering about im conclusive that it is either the MoBo or CPU. I went to a local computer repair shop and asked the guy his opinion, he said probly the MoBo. He then proceded to tell me how terrible Emachines are, proofed by the 40+ emachines cases in his shop, and a tall stack of “toasted” MoBos he claimed to be emachines. he said “I love these things, they keep me in business, but i hate that you have to suffer becouse of them”. Being a total DYI nut i decided to use this machine for parts and buy a new antec 900 case and a biostar MoBo with the correct RAM and CPU, with the heatsinkand fan, all new. i will use the old HD and PSU, optical drives, and modem. So will i have to reinstall Win XP?? can i do it with my emachines recovery disc? is it ethical to do so? honestly i dont think it would be unethical as i did buy it, and they shouldnt sell junk. will there be any problems??

These specs fit within my budget nicely. I will be mainly using this PC for gaming and I don’t plan on upgrading for another 3+ years (with the exception of adding another 4870 at some point under crossfire).

So what do you think of these specs? Will this run current, as well as future games, on medium-high settings?

im getting 2X1GB DDR3 OCZ Reaper RAM (1333MHz)
so should i get the Q6600@1066MHz CPU? or the E8400@1333MHz?

also which would be better:

Re: Older Laptop – Dell Inspiron 8100; running Windows XP SP2; P3 with maxed out RAM at 512MB. Computer runs fine with the following exception.

Problem: Screen Resolution Issues
When the laptop is set at max resolution of 1280 X 1024 the viewable area of the monitor is full width and full height.
However, if you lower the resolution to say 1024 X 768 the viewable area becomes much smaller and has a black border around all four edges about 1½ inches wide.
If you further reduce the resolution to 800 X 600 the viewable area now becomes about 7”W X 5”H with large 3”+ black borders all around.

I figured a repair install of XP would fix the problem, but since the XP disk is 8 years old, the version on the PC with all the Microsoft updates is consider a newer version and XP won’t allow me to do a “repair” installation.
My only options would be to format the HD and reinstall from scratch or uninstall all the upgrades and perform the repair install.
Any viable suggestions?
