I am looking for a laptop between $1500-2000. I was about to buy a Lenovo T61 but the reviews on Cnet were pretty bad. I also want something that is friendly with linux.

I have a Lenovo T61 Thinkpad. And when i start it up it sys it has a problem with “Windows”?
Yes windows does not start up and i did not get a disk to reformat it.

I’m about to start uni next year where I’ll need a laptop for photo editing, graphics design, 3d animation and video editing. But i also want to play games on it. I was thinking of getting either a MacbookPro 2.53Ghz or an Area 51 m15x form alienware, with the NVIDIA Gforce Go 9800mGT. They cost about the same but what would be better, If i get the mac i was planning to get VISTA too and run games off bootcamp (Half life 2, Battlefield 2 ect) So whats the better option? If I run bootcamp dont i have to split the memory in two, wil that effect it at all? I don’t really want to build a PC either, I know its cheaper but its not for me.

when you turn on the computer it goes to the acer flash screen then asks for a password. I do not have the password or the disc for restoring the laptop. The previous owner said the password was 777, but it does not work when I use it, then after a few tries it shuts down.

I ordered an alienware about a month ago and everything was going well but in the beginning of July the said that my laptop would be delayed until July 31st so i sent an e-mail to make sure it’s being delayed but no reply. On the 10th the order status page said that my order has been shipped and i thought it was a mistake so i sent them an e-mail to find out if it was shipped or not but still no reply. So i thought that it might be their order status e-mail so i sent an e-mail to their customer service e-mail 2 days ago and they still haven’t replied.

Why aren’t they replying??

I was using my problematic laptop, and it shut off suddenly (this has happened before). I simply turned it back on. I have sent in the computer in the past because of this, and they tried to fix the problem and I think it is overheating.

However, the same day about 20 minutes later, it shut off again. I went to turn it back on and it wouldn’t work. I noticed the AC adaptor was flashing. My laptop wont turn on!
